Terms of Use: Coping With Canines

 Handlers & Humans LLC

Please read these Terms of Use in full before purchasing or using Coping With Canines (the "Program"). The Program and its content are owned by Jessica Adam and Handlers & Humans LLC (the "Coach").

"Client," "you," or "your" means the purchaser and person using the Program. "Use" or "participation" means purchasing, logging in, reading, posting, implementing, or otherwise engaging with the Program. By purchasing and participating in the Program, you voluntarily agree to these Terms of Use.

Coping With Canines is offered in three subscription tiers. What is included depends on the tier you purchase, as set out in Sections 2 and 3.

1. IMPORTANT NOTICE: THIS IS NOT THERAPY

The Program is not a substitute for therapy, counseling services, or any medical or mental health treatment. While Coach is a licensed professional counselor in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the Program does not include therapy or counseling services and is not designed to diagnose or treat any mental, emotional, or medical condition. Coach provides the Program in the capacity of a coach, separate and apart from Coach's professional counseling practice and licensure. Enrolling does not make you a patient of Coach, and no therapist-patient relationship is formed.

The Program also does not include dog training advice or behavior consulting. Coach is not a professional dog trainer and does not claim to be. The Program offers emotional support, education, and coping strategies for dog guardians. Any discussion of training-related topics, whether from Coach or from other members, is offered for informational and reflective purposes only. For behavior or training concerns, consult a qualified dog trainer, behavior consultant, veterinarian, or veterinary behaviorist.

By agreeing to these terms, you confirm that you are not seeking counseling, therapy, or dog training services through the Program and do not expect Coach to provide any services other than those described here. If you believe you may be in need of therapy or counseling, the Program is not appropriate for you.

The individual coaching component of Tier 3 is additionally governed by the Handlers & Humans LLC Individual Client Program Agreement, which you agree to at purchase. Where these Terms of Use and that Agreement conflict with respect to individual coaching sessions or Voxer support, the Individual Client Program Agreement governs.

4. ACCESS

Program materials are not granted for lifetime access. Access is available only while your subscription or term is active and at the tier you have purchased. If your Tier 1 subscription is cancelled, or your Tier 2 or Tier 3 term reaches its end, access to the materials within that tier is revoked.

At the conclusion of a Tier 2 or Tier 3 term, you may purchase a Tier 1 subscription in order to retain access to the community and live group calls, or purchase a new Tier 2 or Tier 3 term if one is being offered at that time. Continued access is not automatic and requires a new purchase.

You may not share your password or login information with any other person. If credentials are shared with someone who has not purchased the Program, you will be removed from the Program immediately and no refund will be issued.

5. LIVE GROUP CALLS

All tiers include access to up to three live group calls per calendar month, held via Zoom. The number, timing, and format of these calls are determined by Coach and may change from month to month.

Group calls are never recorded or transcribed. Members may not record, screenshot, transcribe, or otherwise capture any portion of a group call for any reason.

Attendance is optional. Coach is under no obligation to remind you of scheduled calls, and calls you do not attend are not made up, credited, or refunded.

6. INDIVIDUAL COACHING AND BETWEEN-SESSION SUPPORT (TIER 3 ONLY)

Tier 3 includes one 55-minute individual coaching session with Coach via Zoom per calendar month. You bear sole responsibility for scheduling your sessions. Coach is not obligated to schedule, reschedule, or remind you of upcoming or unscheduled sessions. A session not scheduled and held within a given calendar month does not roll over and is not credited or refunded.

Between-session support is provided exclusively through the Voxer app. You are responsible for downloading Voxer and connecting with Coach within the app in order to access this support.

Support is asynchronous. Coach responds to Voxer messages within two business days. Business days are Monday through Thursday. Coach does not monitor Voxer on Fridays, weekends, or holidays, and is not available for live or emergency communication.

For urgent medical or behavioral concerns involving your dog, contact your veterinarian or an emergency veterinary clinic. For personal mental health emergencies, contact 988 or your local emergency services.

Voxer access begins on the date of purchase of Tier 3 and ends when your Tier 3 subscription ends. Support does not roll over.

Cancellation, late arrival, and no-show terms for individual coaching sessions are set out in the Individual Client Program Agreement.

7. PAYMENT TERMS

7.1 Authorization

By purchasing a subscription to any tier, you authorize Handlers & Humans LLC to automatically charge your credit card, debit card, or other designated payment method for the amount owed, at the interval in which payment is due, without any additional authorization from you. You will receive an electronic receipt for each charge. Coach will not contact you to seek additional approval before each subsequent charge while your subscription is active.

Payment information may be collected and processed by a third-party merchant, which may have privacy policies or security practices different from those of Handlers & Humans LLC. Coach is not responsible for a merchant's independent policies or practices.

7.2 Subscription and Fixed Terms

Tier 1 is an ongoing subscription. It is billed monthly and continues until you cancel.

Tier 2 and Tier 3 are fixed six-month terms. Each is billed monthly for six months, for a total of six payments, and billing stops automatically at the end of the sixth month. Neither tier renews. You will not be charged beyond the six payments and no action is required from you to end the term.

You are responsible for every monthly payment within a Tier 2 or Tier 3 term, whether or not you attend group calls, use the course materials, attend your individual coaching session, or use Voxer support.

7.3 Cancellation

Tier 1 subscribers may cancel at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and access is revoked at that time.

Tier 2 and Tier 3 are fixed terms and cannot be cancelled once purchased. If you stop participating before the end of your term, the remaining monthly payments in that term remain owed and payable.

7.4 Changing Tiers

A Tier 1 subscriber may purchase a Tier 2 or Tier 3 term at any time. Doing so begins a new fixed six-month term at that tier and ends the Tier 1 subscription and its billing.

A Tier 2 or Tier 3 member may not change tiers during an active term. At the conclusion of the term you are free to purchase any tier then being offered.

Remaining time in a billing period is not prorated or refunded on cancellation, tier change, or removal from the Program.

7.5 Failed Payments

If a subscription payment fails, your card will automatically be re-charged after a three-day grace period. This grace period allows you to update your payment information without penalty or loss of access.

After a second failed payment, access to the Program is suspended until payment is successfully completed, and Coach will attempt to re-charge in three days. After a third failed payment, access remains suspended and Coach will attempt to re-charge in three days. A fourth attempt is the final attempt to collect payment. If the fourth attempt fails, you will be permanently removed from the Program, no refund will be given, and any remaining payments owed within a Tier 2 or Tier 3 term may be forwarded to collections.

7.6 Chargebacks

You will not, under any circumstances, issue or threaten to issue a chargeback to Coach or through your credit card company or payment processor for any reason related to the Program. In the event of a chargeback, Coach reserves the right to report the account to credit bureaus as delinquent and to pursue collection of amounts owed.

8. REFUND POLICY

Because the Program provides immediate access to digital materials and a community space, and because Tier 1 may be cancelled at any time in accordance with Section 7.3, refunds are not issued once payment has been made.

Monthly payments already made are non-refundable. Cancellation, a change of tier, or removal from the Program does not entitle you to a refund of the current billing period or any prior period, and does not relieve you of remaining payments within a Tier 2 or Tier 3 term.

If Coach experiences an unforeseen event rendering Coach unable to deliver the Program, you may be entitled to a partial refund on a case-by-case basis, based on the portion of the Program not delivered. Reasonable or minor modifications made by Coach, including changes to the timing or format of group calls, do not constitute an inability to deliver services and do not qualify you for a refund.

Changing your mind about the Program, failing to participate, misunderstanding what is included, or not experiencing a desired or expected result does not entitle you to a refund.

9. CONFIDENTIALITY

9.1 Coach's Obligations

Coach respects your privacy and will not identify your participation in the Program or reveal anything you share in coaching sessions, group calls, or the community without your consent, except in the following circumstances:

  • Suspected abuse of, or danger to, a child, an elder, another individual, or yourself (Jessica Adam is a mandated reporter of suspected abuse)
  • Where you have given written or verbal permission
  • In the event of a fee or contractual dispute
  • Where disclosure is required by law, subpoena, or court order
  • Unintentional breach arising from electronic or online communication, including but not limited to email, Voxer, direct messaging, and Zoom chat

9.2 Member Obligations

All discussions, materials, and shared experiences within the course, the community, and the live group calls are confidential and may not be shared outside the Program by members. This includes screenshots, quotations, recordings, transcriptions, and paraphrased accounts of what another member has said.

Because of the group nature of the Program, you may become exposed to confidential or proprietary information belonging to other members. You agree not to disclose, use, distribute, copy, or otherwise share any such information. You understand that if you violate this provision you may be liable to that member directly, and you will hold Coach harmless from any third-party action taken against you for such disclosure.

9.3 Mutual Non-Disclosure

These Terms operate as a mutual non-disclosure agreement. Both you and Coach agree not to disclose, reveal, or make use of confidential information learned during discussions, coaching sessions, group calls, community posts, messages, or otherwise. Confidential Information includes but is not limited to financial information, coaching strategies, exercises and methodologies, plans or outlines for future programs, information contained in documents or original works created by Coach, and any other intellectual property described in Section 12.

This obligation survives the expiration or termination of your subscription. Should you breach this provision and disclose confidential or proprietary information belonging to Coach or to another member, Coach may take further action, up to and including legal action.

9.4 Electronic and Video Communication

Where the Program includes sessions or calls by Zoom, or communication by Voxer or other online platforms, you understand and accept the risks inherent in electronic communication, including the possibility that a transmission could be distorted, interrupted, or accessed by unauthorized persons. You give informed consent to participate in online video sessions, group calls, and asynchronous messaging as part of the Program.

10. TESTIMONIALS AND MARKETING

You grant Coach an ongoing, non-exclusive right to use anonymized content arising from your participation in the Program for the purpose of promoting and marketing Handlers & Humans across social media, advertising, Coach's website, newsletters, and to prospective clients. Anonymized content includes written or screenshotted communications, including community posts, comments, feedback, and Voxer messages.

This permission is granted by every member at purchase and applies to group content regardless of which member contributed it. Before any such use, Coach will remove or obscure names, images, handles, and any other directly identifying information belonging to any member appearing in the content.

No further permission is required for the use of anonymized content, and you will not receive compensation for such use. The member obligations in Section 9.2 restrict members from sharing group content outside the Program and do not restrict Coach's anonymized use described here.

Coach will never share your name, image, likeness, or other identifying information publicly without your express written consent. Coach may invite you to provide a testimonial through a form in which you specify what Coach may and may not share. You are free to decline, to limit what Coach may use, or to withhold identifying information, and any of these choices has no effect on your participation in the Program.

You may opt out of the use of your anonymized content at any time by notifying Coach in writing. Coach will honor the request going forward but is not obligated to remove materials already published.

11. RECORDING AND TRANSCRIPTION

Live group calls are never recorded or transcribed by Coach, and members may not record, transcribe, or screenshot them.

For Tier 3 individual coaching sessions only, Coach uses Zoom's automated transcription and note-taking features to generate a written summary, which Coach adds to a shared coaching document accessible to you. Your participation in an individual session constitutes consent to this transcription, and you may opt out at any time by notifying Coach in advance of or at the start of a session. Transcription is performed by Zoom and processed on Zoom's systems, subject to Zoom's terms of service and privacy policy and retention practices, which are outside Coach's control.

You may not record any individual coaching session with Coach, for any reason, at any time.

12. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

The Program and its content, including but not limited to the Coping With Canines course materials, the COPE framework, community discussion boards, prompts, resources, challenges, worksheets, and any other original work created by Coach, are the intellectual property of Jessica Adam and Handlers & Humans LLC.

You are granted a limited, revocable, non-transferable license to view and use the Program materials in your own life for as long as your subscription remains active. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of any intellectual property to you or grants any license beyond what is expressly provided.

You may not copy, edit, distribute, duplicate, sell, assist others in selling, forward, post, or otherwise share or exploit the Program or its content, and may not repurpose the content or present it as your own in your own business or practice, without Coach's express written permission.

If such conduct is discovered or reasonably suspected, Coach reserves the right to immediately end your participation in the Program and revoke access to all materials, without refund, and to pursue any actionable infringement or misuse to the full extent of the law.

13. NO MEDICAL ADVICE AND NO GUARANTEES

The Program is provided for informational and educational purposes only. It is not medical advice, is not a substitute for mental health treatment, and is not intended to diagnose, cure, treat, or prevent any medical or mental health condition.

Coach encourages you to consult a physician or licensed therapist if you believe you may benefit from those services, and to discuss any changes to your health with an appropriate professional before making them.

Coach makes reasonable efforts to keep Program content accurate and current but makes no representation that all information is accurate or free of errors at all times, and assumes no responsibility for its accuracy, safety, or efficacy as applied to you.

Active participation is necessary to see results, and results are not guaranteed. Coach makes no representations or guarantees regarding individual outcomes and makes no guarantee of any particular financial outcome. Any testimonials or examples describing the results of others are individual, and results will vary.

The Program is provided on an "as is" basis, without guarantees, representations, or warranties of any kind, including warranties relating to quality, non-infringement, fitness for a particular purpose, or merchantability, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

14. VOLUNTARY PARTICIPATION AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK

You are voluntarily choosing to enroll in the Program and are solely responsible for your own outcomes and results. You acknowledge that Jessica Adam and Handlers & Humans LLC are not responsible or liable should you sustain injury, incur harm, or encounter negative consequences in connection with the Program. You are fully responsible for your own health and wellbeing.

By purchasing and participating in the Program, you confirm that you have determined, with any professional input you consider necessary, that the Program is appropriate for you at this time. Coach assumes that every person who enrolls has made that determination and is cleared to participate.

If the Program suggests any physical activity or change to your routine, you are responsible for obtaining medical clearance from your own physician before attempting it. If you elect not to obtain such clearance, you accept the potential consequences and agree not to hold Coach responsible.

15. INDEMNIFICATION AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

You agree at all times to defend, fully indemnify, and hold harmless Coach and any affiliates, agents, team members, or other parties associated with Coach from any causes of action, damages, losses, costs, or expenses, including attorney's fees, arising from your use of or participation in the Program or from your breach of any obligation set out in these Terms of Use.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Coach expressly disclaims liability for any direct, indirect, or consequential damages suffered by you in connection with your purchase of, use of, or participation in the Program, its materials, or Coach's website. IN NO EVENT SHALL COACH BE LIABLE TO YOU FOR ANY INDIRECT, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, PUNITIVE, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES.

16. DISCONTINUATION AND REMOVAL

If at any point Coach believes you to be in need of medical care, therapy, counseling, or other treatment falling outside the scope of the Program, Coach will advise you to seek out a licensed professional in your own geographic area. Coach may, but is not obligated to, provide the name of a specific provider. You have the right to decline to act on this recommendation. You may, however, be asked to discontinue participation for your own wellbeing until such treatment can be obtained.

Coach reserves the right to remove you from the Program and revoke access where Coach determines that more appropriate services are necessary, where these Terms have been breached, or where the Handlers & Humans Community Code of Conduct has been breached. Where participation is discontinued, any decision regarding a partial refund rests solely with Coach and is not guaranteed.

17. DISPUTE RESOLUTION

If any issue arises in connection with the Program, please contact Coach first at [email protected] so that it can be resolved directly through good-faith discussion. You agree that failure to achieve a desired result is not a basis for a dispute.

If the matter cannot be resolved informally, you agree that any dispute will be submitted to binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association, before a mutually agreed arbitrator and in accordance with its rules, to be conducted within 50 miles of Fleetwood, Berks County, Pennsylvania. By agreeing to this term you understand that you are waiving your right to a jury trial that would otherwise be available to you.

The arbitrator's decision is final and binding, is not subject to appeal, and is enforceable in any court of proper jurisdiction in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The only award that may be issued to you is a refund of payments made to Handlers & Humans LLC for the applicable Program. You are not permitted to seek additional damages, including consequential or punitive damages.

18. GENERAL PROVISIONS

18.1 Governing Law

These Terms of Use are governed by and construed under the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, regardless of conflict of law principles and regardless of your location. Any action arising from these Terms shall be brought within Berks County, Pennsylvania.

18.2 Code of Conduct

Participation in the community and live group calls is additionally subject to the Handlers & Humans Community Code of Conduct, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Breach of the Code of Conduct may result in removal from the Program without refund.

18.3 Severability

The provisions of these Terms of Use are severable. The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision does not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision. If any section, subsection, sentence, or clause is adjudged illegal, invalid, or unenforceable, that determination has no effect on these Terms as a whole or on any other portion of them.

18.4 Changes to These Terms

Coach may update these Terms of Use from time to time. Continued participation in the Program after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

18.5 Entire Agreement

These Terms of Use, together with the Handlers & Humans Community Code of Conduct and, for Tier 3 members, the Individual Client Program Agreement, constitute the entire agreement between you and Coach with respect to the Program and supersede all prior agreements, discussions, and correspondence. If a feature or expectation is not described in these documents, it does not apply and is not included in the Program.

19. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

By purchasing and participating in the Program, you voluntarily confirm that:

  • You understand the Program is coaching, education, and peer community, and is not therapy, counseling, mental health treatment, or dog training
  • You are not seeking therapy, counseling, or mental health treatment through the Program
  • You are not seeking dog training services through the Program
  • You are enrolling voluntarily and of your own free will
  • You understand which tier you have purchased and what it includes
  • You understand the term attached to your tier, and where you have purchased Tier 2 or Tier 3 you accept responsibility for all six monthly payments
  • You have read and understand these Terms of Use and agree to abide by them

Questions about these Terms of Use may be directed to Jessica Adam at [email protected]

Handlers & Humans Community Code of Conduct

 Handlers & Humans LLC

Handlers & Humans community spaces exist so that dog guardians and canine professionals can connect with, learn from, and support one another. The purpose is a supportive, harassment-free space focused on the human emotional experience of living and working with dogs.

In this community, we believe every dog guardian and canine professional deserves to be supported as they support their dogs and their clients.

This Code of Conduct is incorporated by reference into the Terms of Use for every Handlers & Humans program that includes community access. Any breach may result in removal from the community, and in some cases from the program, without refund.

1. SCOPE

This Code of Conduct applies to all Handlers & Humans community spaces, across every program that includes community access. That includes public channels, private channels, threads, comment sections, voice rooms, live group calls, direct messages between members, and any in-person or live events, whether online or off.

Direct messages between members are within scope. Coach/Admins cannot see or monitor member direct messages and do not do so. If conduct in a direct message violates this Code, report it under Section 10 so that Coach can act on it.

Anyone who violates this Code of Conduct may be removed from these spaces at the discretion of Coach.

2. WHAT THIS COMMUNITY IS FOR

These spaces are focused on the human emotional health element of dog guardianship and dog training. They are not a training forum, a behavior consultation service, a veterinary resource, or a crisis service.

Behavior that builds the environment we are aiming for includes:

  • Using welcoming and inclusive language
  • Being respectful of differing views, training styles, and experiences
  • Gracefully accepting constructive criticism
  • Showing empathy toward other members
  • Offering feedback only where it has been expressly requested
  • Assuming good faith in other members, particularly when they are struggling

3. TRAINING DISCUSSION

Courteous, inclusive discussion of training styles, methods, and suggestions is permitted only where a member has expressly requested training-related feedback. Debate is not permitted.

This is not a place to debate or belittle the merit of trainers, training methods, tools, or philosophies. Members are often here precisely because their training path has been difficult, and this community is not the venue for relitigating it.

4. SHARING EXPERIENCE, NOT ADVICE

Members frequently have relevant experience with medications, medical conditions, behavior protocols, and veterinary decisions. Sharing that experience can be valuable, and it carries real risk when it is received as guidance.

Members should not offer medical, veterinary, medication, or behavioral advice unless another member has explicitly asked for input. Where a member does share, it should be shared as their own experience only, with the understanding that it is not medical, veterinary, or behavioral advice and should not be treated as a substitute for a qualified professional.

Coach does not review, verify, or endorse information shared between members. Members are responsible for consulting their own veterinarian, veterinary behaviorist, trainer, or behavior consultant regarding their own dog.

5. PROFESSIONAL ROLES AND PROMOTION

Canine professionals are welcome in these spaces as people, not as practitioners. Members may not promote their own services, recruit clients, advertise their business, or otherwise act or speak in their professional capacity within community spaces unless Coach has explicitly given permission.

This applies to posts, comments, live calls, and direct messages with other members. If you are unsure whether something crosses this line, ask Coach before posting.

Any business, product, service, or piece of information mentioned within community spaces is shared as an educational reference only. Handlers & Humans LLC does not promote, endorse, or attest to the knowledge or abilities of any business or individual mentioned.

6. GRAPHIC CONTENT

Members should refrain from posting graphic photographs or video, including images of bites, wounds, injuries, medical procedures, or a dog in visible distress or at end of life. Members are welcome to describe these experiences in words.

This is not a restriction on what you may talk about. Difficult subjects, including euthanasia, rehoming, bite history, and medical decline, are all appropriate topics here. It is only a restriction on images, so that members reading in a hard moment are not confronted with them without warning.

7. HARASSMENT AND DISCRIMINATION

Harassment or discrimination of members will not be tolerated in any form. Examples of harassment include:

  • Offensive comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, mental illness, neuro(a)typicality, physical appearance, pregnancy status, veteran status, political affiliation, marital status, body size, age, race, national origin, ethnic origin, nationality, immigration status, language, religion or lack thereof, or any other identity marker. This includes anti-Indigenous and anti-Black comments, as well as demeaning comments about a member's training style preferences
  • Unwelcome comments regarding a person's lifestyle choices and practices, including those related to training, food, health, parenting, relationships, drugs, and employment
  • Deliberate misgendering, using incorrect pronouns, or use of a rejected or former name
  • Off-topic sexual images or behavior of any kind, and unwelcome sexual attention
  • Simulated physical contact, such as textual descriptions like "hug" or "backrub," without consent or after a request to stop
  • Threats of violence, or incitement of violence toward any individual or group, including encouraging a person to harm themselves
  • Deliberate intimidation
  • Stalking or following, online or in the physical world
  • Harassing photography or recording, including logging another member's online activity for harassment purposes
  • Sustained disruption of discussion
  • Patterns of inappropriate social contact, including requesting or assuming inappropriate levels of intimacy
  • Continued one-on-one communication after a request to stop
  • Deliberately revealing any aspect of a person's identity without their consent, except where necessary to protect a vulnerable person from intentional abuse

If you have questions or concerns about any of this, message Coach or ask for an opportunity to discuss it.

8. CONFIDENTIALITY

8.1 Coach's Obligations

Coach respects each member's privacy and will not identify a member's participation in a program, or reveal anything a member has said in coaching sessions, group calls, or community spaces in an identifiable form, without that member's consent, except in the following circumstances:

  • Suspected abuse of, or danger to, a child, an elder, another individual, or the member themselves (Jessica Adam is a mandated reporter of suspected abuse)
  • Where the member has given written or verbal permission
  • In the event of a fee or contractual dispute
  • Where disclosure is required by law, subpoena, or court order
  • Unintentional breach arising from electronic or online communication, including but not limited to email, Voxer, direct messaging, and Zoom chat

8.2 Member Obligations

All discussions, materials, and shared experiences within community spaces, courses, and live group calls are confidential and may not be shared outside the community by members. This includes screenshots, quotations, recordings, transcriptions, and paraphrased accounts of what another member has said.

Members may not publish private communications, whether with Coach or with another member, and may not publish or repost discussions from within community spaces. Sharing information or screenshots from Handlers & Humans community spaces to any outside source, for any reason, results in immediate and permanent removal under Section 11.

Members may not replicate, duplicate, or share any information, personal details, images, or video contained within Handlers & Humans spaces without prior written consent, and may not share passwords, logins, or confidential information with anyone.

8.3 Coach's Use of Anonymized Content

Handlers & Humans reserves the right to use de-identified excerpts, screenshots, or summaries of member contributions within community spaces, including feedback, comments, and testimonials, for marketing, promotional, or educational purposes at any time. Identifying details, including names, images, handles, and other personal information, will be redacted or altered before any such use.

This permission is granted by every member on joining and applies to group content regardless of which member contributed it. Names, images, and personal identifying information will be shared only with the express consent of the member concerned. The member obligations in Section 8.2 restrict members from sharing group content outside the community and do not restrict this use by Coach.

Members may opt out of the use of their anonymized content at any time by notifying Coach in writing. Coach will honor the request going forward but is not obligated to remove materials already published.

9. SUPPORT LIMITS AND CRISIS

This community is a peer support and education space. It is not a crisis service, a therapy group, or a substitute for mental health treatment. Coach participates in the capacity of a coach, not as a licensed professional counselor, and no therapeutic relationship is formed through community participation.

Coach does not monitor community spaces continuously and cannot be relied upon to see a post quickly or at all.

If you are in crisis, or thinking about harming yourself or others, contact 988 or your local emergency services. If your dog is in a medical or behavioral emergency, contact your veterinarian or an emergency veterinary clinic. Please do not wait for a response in the community.

If Coach becomes aware that a member may be struggling in a way that falls outside what this community can hold, Coach may reach out privately on one occasion to check in and share resources. That outreach will come by community direct message or email for Tier 1 and Tier 2 members, or by Voxer for Tier 3 members. Coach will reach out one time only and will not follow up beyond that, and members should not rely on Coach or the community for ongoing crisis support.

Coach may also ask a member to step back from community participation for their own wellbeing until appropriate support is in place, as described in the Terms of Use for the relevant program.

10. REPORTING

If you are being harassed by a member, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concern, contact Jessica Adam at [email protected]

Coach will respond to any complaint as promptly as possible. If you do not receive a timely response, please put your own safety and wellbeing first and consider logging out until you hear back.

This Code applies to community spaces, but if you are being harassed by a member outside those spaces, Coach still wants to know. All good-faith reports of harassment by a member are taken seriously, including harassment that occurred outside community spaces and at any point in time. Coach reserves the right to exclude a person from the community based on past behavior, including behavior outside these spaces and behavior toward people who are not members.

Coach reserves the right to reject any report believed to have been made in bad faith. Reports intended to silence legitimate criticism may be dismissed without response.

11. ZERO TOLERANCE

Most breaches of this Code are handled through the steps set out in Section 12, because most of them come from a member having a hard day rather than a member intending harm. The following are different. They result in immediate and permanent removal from all Handlers & Humans community spaces, with no warning and no opportunity to correct the behavior:

  • Threats of violence, or incitement of violence toward any individual or group, including encouraging a person to harm themselves
  • Sexual content directed at a member, or unwelcome sexual attention of any kind
  • Stalking, following, or deliberate intimidation of a member, whether online or in the physical world
  • Publishing a member's private communications, or sharing screenshots or information from community spaces to any outside source
  • Deliberately revealing any aspect of a member's identity without their consent
  • Harassment or discrimination targeting a member on the basis of any identity marker listed in Section 7

The last item is aimed at conduct that targets a person, not at a member who says something clumsy or uninformed and is willing to be corrected. Coach will make that distinction, and her assessment of it is final.

Removal under this section is permanent. Section 13 applies to the financial consequences.

12. ENFORCEMENT OF OTHER BREACHES

Handlers & Humans is run by Jessica Adam. All reports come to her directly, and all enforcement decisions are hers alone. Every report will be treated with seriousness and care.

For breaches that do not fall under Section 11, and where a member's immediate safety is not at risk, Coach will generally work through the following steps. She may move directly to any step depending on the seriousness of the conduct, and may remove a member immediately where their conduct puts another member's safety at risk.

  • A private note asking the member to stop or change the behavior, along with an explanation of the concern
  • A formal warning, stating clearly what will happen if the behavior continues
  • A temporary suspension from community spaces for a defined period, after which participation resumes
  • Permanent removal from community spaces

A member asked to stop a behavior is expected to comply immediately. Coach's decision in any enforcement matter is final. At Coach's discretion, or on request, one or more of the parties involved may discuss the situation and how to avoid similar ones in future.

Coach will respect confidentiality requests made to protect a person reporting abuse or harassment, and will not name a person who has experienced harassment without their affirmative consent. At her discretion, Coach may name a person about whom harassment complaints have been received, or privately warn third parties about them, where she believes doing so will increase the safety of members or the public.

13. EFFECT OF REMOVAL

Removal from community spaces does not end your financial obligation. Where you are within a fixed term or a minimum commitment, the remaining payments in that term remain owed and payable, and no refund is issued for payments already made.

Removal from the community does not automatically end access to other parts of a program. A member removed from community spaces who holds a tier that includes course access or individual coaching retains access to those components for the remainder of their term, unless Coach determines that removal from the program as a whole is warranted.

Where a member is removed from a program in full, any decision regarding a partial refund rests solely with Coach and is not guaranteed.

14. HOLD HARMLESS

By participating in Handlers & Humans community spaces, including all online, in-person, and live spaces, each member agrees to save and hold harmless Handlers & Humans LLC and all of its affiliates from any and all claims for damages of any kind, including but not limited to personal injury, loss of property, economic loss, or injury or illness to any dog.

15. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

By joining and participating in any Handlers & Humans community space, you confirm that you have read and understand this Code of Conduct and agree to abide by it, and that you understand a breach may result in removal from the community or the program without refund.
