Â
Coping With Canines is about getting YOU the support you need so life with your dog actually feels manageable… or even joyful! Below is everything that's available to you and how to make the most of it.
Â
Your Community (All Tiers)
Â
Show Up to Calls
We have three live calls a month (RSVP in the Events tab to put them on your calendar), and they follow whatever COPE theme we're in that quarter. You don't have to talk if you don't want to. Showing up and listening is just fine! But if you can, sharing what's going on for you is one of the fastest ways to feel less alone in this.
Can't make a call? That’s okay, it’s why we offer three options every month!
Â
Do the Reflections and Challenges
Every week there's a new reflection prompt and a challenge tied to the current quarterly theme. These are short and designed to meet you where you are. You don't need to write a novel, even a few sentences or just thinking it through has an impact.
The reflections help you notice patterns in how you're feeling. The challenges give you something small and doable to try that week. Together, they’ll help you actually apply skills to change how life with your dog feels.
Â
Use the Discussion Boards
The community has spaces built for different moments: Struggle Bus for when things are hard, Celebration Station for the wins (big or small), and Photo Share because sometimes you just want to show off your dog, and more.
Post when you can, and comment when something resonates. Share support just as much as you receive it, we’re all in this together!Â
Â
Don't Skip the Extras
We occasionally host bonus events like Ask a Trainer Q&A sessions. These are great opportunities to get professional input in a low-pressure, supportive setting. Keep an eye on the Events tab so you don't miss them.
Â
Your Course (Tiers 2 & 3)
Â
Work Through the Coping with Canines Course
The course walks you through the entire COPE framework. It's where you'll learn the actual mental health skills and tools that help you feel better about life with your dog. This is the backbone of the program.
Go at your own pace. Some people binge it, some people take one module a week, some people skip around to whatever applies to them. The important thing is to actually try the exercises, not just watch the videos. The skills only work if you practice them!
Â
Your 1:1 Coaching (Tier 3)
Â
Use Your Monthly Session
You have a monthly 1:1 session via Zoom with Jess that you can self-schedule through your dashboard. Use it. This is your time to dig into whatever's going on for you and your dog with someone who gets the full picture, and really apply everything you’re learning specifically to you.
You don’t need to come with an agenda, but if you want to get really targeted, jot down a few things on your mind beforehand.
Â
Stay in Touch Between Sessions (No really, please reach out!)
You also have access to message Jess directly through the community DM feature or your private Slack channel (whatever you prefer.) You don't have to wait for your monthly session to ask a question, talk through something, or get support.
Jess will say hi and check in with you every other week, but you can reach out anytime and expect a reply Monday through Thursday. Expect a reply within 36 hours max (often sooner). Weekend replies happen sometimes but aren't guaranteed.
Â
You don’t need to save everything up for your monthly call. If something happens with your dog on a Tuesday and you're spiraling, that's exactly what the chat access is for. Quick check-ins between sessions keep the momentum going.
Â
When something from a module clicks (or doesn't), bring it to your 1:1 or send Jess a message about it. The course gives you the framework, and coaching helps you make it personal.

Welcome to Coping With Canines
Hi, and welcome to Coping With Canines. I’m Jess Adam and I’m here to support YOU as you support your dog. I’m really glad you’re here, and so is your dog.
If you’re watching this, it means you decided to say yes to support for yourself on your training journey. Living with a dog experiencing behavioral, medical, or emotional challenges can bring up a lot for us.
Before we get into the logistics, I want you to know this: there is no “right” way to use the resources inside Coping With Canines. You don’t need to do everything. You can make changes any time. Everything about this program is designed to meet you where you are.
So let me show you around so you know exactly how to use what you’ve joined.
Â
Description of the Program
Coping With Canines is made up of three layers of support: community, course, and coaching.
Depending on the tier you’re in, you may have access to one, two, or all three.Â
Everything in Coping With Canines is grounded in the COPE framework, which focuses on four core elements: calming and caring for your nervous system, observing and shifting your outlook, prioritizing play and positives, and engaging with support and boundaries.Â
The course is built around these elements, giving you education, tools, and practices for each one. Inside the community, we focus on one element per quarter as our shared theme for calls, challenges, and reflections, so you can really work on applying it in real life. And in coaching, we take the most relevant elements of that same framework and apply them directly to you… your dog, your stressors, your patterns, and what support actually looks like in your day-to-day life.
Â
Accessing Your Purchase – Desktop
If you’re on a desktop, you’ll start by going to my website www.handlersandhumans.com and logging into your account. You’ll land in your member library – it should look something like this. From there, you’ll see links to the community, the course if that’s included in your tier, and your coaching package if you’re in the coaching tier. You’ll see one, two, or all three of these depending on your level of support.Â
Everything you have access to will be visible there, so if you don’t see something, it usually just means it’s not part of your current tier – but feel free to reach out with questions!Â
If you plan to engage regularly, I highly recommend bookmarking the page or adding it to your home screen so it’s easy to find when you need it.
Â
Accessing Your Purchase – Mobile
On mobile, the layout looks a little different, but everything is still there in one place. You’ll want to download the Kajabi app, and login there. Then, use the navigation tabs on the bottom to move between the community, the course, and coaching.
Â
Community Navigation
The community is where connection and ongoing support live.
On the left in the community you’ll see different Discussion Threads where you can post reflections, questions, wins, struggles, ask for feedback, and respond to others in the community. You’re never required to post, but you’re always welcome to. And it’s really lovely to get and give feedback to other people going through what you are.
The Reflection thread has a new prompt every week, giving you a place to slow down and notice what’s actually happening for you. You can respond publicly, privately to me in a DM, or just think about them on your own.
Â
Challenges
Every week I post a challenge which are gentle, optional practices you can try and then come back to report how they went. There are also some ongoing challenges like 52 weeks of self care and the coping with canines journal challenge for you to do.
Â
Events
You’ll also find EVENTS listed in the community. You can see all upcoming group calls or extra events, RSVP directly there by clicking “going”, and add them to your calendar so you don’t have to remember everything yourself.
Â
Course Navigation
So that’s the community. If you are a part of any of the other tiers, you have the community included.Â
If you are a part of Tier 2 which includes the Coping With Canines course, you’ll see a dedicated course link in your member library.
Just like the community, you can access it on both desktop and mobile. Inside, you’ll find the modules, which are again structured with the COPE framework and designed to be taken at your own pace. There’s no rush with this. You can complete it in a month, you can take your time. And you can hang out and get support on the calls and in the community along the way.
Â
Inside the Course
Each module includes a written or video lesson with downloads and worksheets found that you can print, save, or come back to anytime. These are tools, not homework. Use what helps, skip what doesn’t, and revisit things as often as you need.
Â
Coaching Navigation
If you’re in Tier 3 which includes the community, the course, AND coaching, you’ll see options for scheduling and accessing those sessions. Coaching is there to support you more directly and individually, especially if you’re feeling stuck or overwhelmed. In coaching you get one session with me per month, and the ability to communicate with me via Voxer any day Monday through Thursday. I will reply within 36 hours unless I note otherwise, but often much sooner. You can use this space to check in, give me updates, ask questions, get coaching and guidance form me about handling something challenging, ask for a pep talk, whatever you need.
Â
Details to Know
You have access to whatever tier you’re currently in for as long as you’re in it. There’s no pressure to upgrade, downgrade, or change anything unless it works for you.
If you ever want to cancel your subscription, you can do that easily through your account settings (click the avatar in the top corner to access your settings) or…
Â
 Switch to Lower Tier
...by simply purchasing the lower tier on the Coping With Canines homepage on my website – and the system will automatically take you out of the tier you were previously in. No emails required, no hard feelings. I want this space to be reflective of your needs and capacity. If you have ANY issues with this I am more than happy to update it manually for you on the back end. There’s a link below this video to help you do that.Â
Â
Closing
I’m really glad you’re here. This program exists because taking care of yourself is not separate from taking care of your dog. Please reach out anytime with questions. I truly believe you can love life with your dog, just as they are right now, as long as you’ve got the right support for your side of the leash.Â
